The Jackson Sun reported Derrick Burroughs is slated to return to Lane as the athletic director and football coach. Burroughs served as athletic director in 2010 and 2011 and head football coach from 2010 to 2013.
Burroughs left Lane to become the defensive coordinator at Jackson State University in 2014. Before leaving for JSU, he guided the
Dragons to an improved 6-4 record in 2013. In his first three seasons, he collected a 9-21 record but nurtured Lane from a 0-10 record in 2010 to 4-6 (2011) and 5-5 (2012).
Burroughs recruited most of the current football players at Lane.
