COLUMBIA, S.C. - Benedict College junior pitcher
James Roman has been selected to the Black College Nines 2016 HBCU Preseason All-American team.
Roman was one of 26 players named to the small school division team, which included players from NCAA Division II and III, as well as NAIA. Roman was selected to the second team. Click

Roman went 5-0 with a 2.84 ERA for the Tigers last season. He pitched 31 2/3 innings and struck out 24.
The Black College Nines website also wrote a story on the top HBCU base stealing programs, and Benedict is featured prominently. The Tigers finished second in stolen bases in 2015 after leading the nation for six years straight. Benedict owns eight NCAA stolen base records. Read more
