ALBANY, Ga.- Albany State women’s track & field’s Irrion Conaler and men’s track & field athletes Cervantes Jackson and Daniel Oduah have qualified to compete at the 2016 NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The event will be held May 26-28 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Conaler, a senior from New Orleans, La., will compete in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. She has the seventh-best time in the nation with a 59.83clip, which she established at the NTC Pure Athletics Sprint Elite meet in Clermont, Fla. on May 14. With her time of 59.83, Conaler broke the 15-year Albany State record set by Lurton Nobles (1:00.49) in 2001.
Jackson, the 2016 SIAC Cleve Abbott and Men’s Field MVP, qualified for the men’s triple jump. With a leap of 52-7 ¼ recorded at the UNF Twilight meet in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 4, Jackson is currently ranked second in the nation. The Bainbridge, Ga. native also won the event at the 2016 SIAC championships.
Oduah, a native of Covington, Ga., will compete in the high jump at the NCAAs. Oduah is currently ranked 12th in the nation with a mark of 6-10 ¾. He won the high jump title at the SIAC championships, which was his second consecutive conference championship in the event.
