Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: December 4

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s basketball Players of the Week for the week of December 4.
 
Tyrius Walker (Morehouse) was selected Player of the Week alongside, Chris Scott (Central State) who was tabbed Newcomer of the Week for his second consecutive week.

Walker led Morehouse to two conference wins over Miles and Paine and helped the Maroon Tigers to an 8-0 record to start the season, while breaking the school record for wins to start a season. The Georgia native finished the week shooting at 47.7 percent (22-of-45) from the floor, 47.7 percent (9-of-19) from behind the arc, and 62.5 percent (10-of-14) from the free-throw line. Walker finished the week with a season-high 35 points against Miles while adding 10 rebounds, six steals, two assists, and two blocks.
 
 

Newcomer of the Week
Chris Scott

Scott averaged 21.3 points to led the Marauders to a 3-1 conference record as they defeated conference opponents, Lane and LeMoyne-Owen College leading him to his second Newcomer of the Week award. The Ohio native finished the week with 64 total points with his season-high 28 points over LeMoyne-Owen. Scott shot 56.0 percent (22-of-29) from the floor, 58.4 percent from behind the arc, and 100 percent (15-of-15) from the free-throw line. He also posted 31 rebounds, four blocks, and one assist.
