Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: Feb. 26

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s basketball Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 26.
 
Tyrius Walker (Morehouse) was selected Player of the Week alongside, Chris Scott (Central State) who was tabbed Newcomer of the Week.

Walker led the Maroon Tigers to a perfect 2-0 record on last week as they defeated Fort Valley State and rival, Clark Atlanta University to clinch the Eastern Division Regular Season Champion title. The senior guard led his team in scoring posting 27 points in each game, while posting his first double-double of the season in the feat against the Clark Atlanta Panthers. Walker shot over 40 percent from the field in both games and was one free-throw shy of perfect shooting from the charity line. The Maroon Tigers will continue their season as they enter into the 2018 SIAC Basketball Tournament looking for a chance to win the championship title.
 
 
 
 
Newcomer of the Week
Chris Scott

Scott led the Marauders to a clean sweep on last week to round out the 2018 regular season as they defeated Miles and Salem University and clench the Western Division Champions title. The junior center posted 20 points which included his shooting 72.7 percent from the floor and 66.7 from behind the arc against conference opponent, Miles College. He also marked his 10th double-double as he added 12 rebounds. Throughout the season, Scott has led the Marauders and will continue as they go into the 2018 SIAC Basketball Tournament.
