Game 18 (Women): No. 1 Clark Atlanta 62, No. 3 Claflin 59

Clark Atlanta’s Naomi Holloway had another phenomenal performance as she posted 26 points for the Lady Panthers, pushing the Panthers past Clafin, 62-59. In the first half, the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers struggled in the paint and turned the ball over putting them behind Claflin. The Claflin Lady Panthers’ bench came out strong in the first half as they posted 16 points to Clark Atlanta’s six. Opening the second half, Clark Atlanta responded with back-to-back 3-pointers as two of Claflin’s top scorers fouled out the game. As the half continued, Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers capitalized on Claflin’s turnovers and used their fast breaks to outscore Claflin. Claflin Lady Panthers fall to 17-13 on the season as Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers advance to the championship game where they will face the winner of Central State versus Kentucky State on Saturday, March 3 at 4:00 p.m. CST.

Claflin’s Triston Thompson leads the Panthers with 22 points in a semifinal win over No. 1 Morehouse Maroon Tigers, 77-69. Seniors, Benjamin Williams and Jaleel Charles both managed double-digit scoring as Charles led with a double-double posting 12 points and 12 rebounds. In the first half, Morehouse had five points over Claflin going into halftime. As the second half began, Morehouse struggled shooting as they shot 41.9 percent from the field, 20.8 percent from the arc, and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line. Claflin Panthers dominated in second chance points as they posted 14 to the Maroon Tigers four. The Maroon Tigers fell to 25-2 on the season as Claflin will advance to face the winner of Clark Atlanta versus Benedict in the championship game on Saturday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
Game 20 (Women): No. 3 Kentucky State 75, No. 1 Central State 84

Sierra Harley led scoring for the Lady Marauders with 25 points against rival, Kentucky State, in an 84-75 overtime win. Central State dominated in rebounding, but struggled shooting from the field as they only shot 38.6 percent. Despite being down in the first quarter, the Lady Marauders fought hard going into the second by capitalizing on Kentucky State’s turnovers. In the half, Central State posted 16 points off of turnovers and seven points from second chance. As the game progressed, the team posted back-to-back points in the paint with only seconds remaining to send them into overtime. In overtime, the Lady Marauders dominated with 12 added points to Kentucky State’s three which lifted them to the win. The Kentucky State Lady Marauders fell to 11-18 on the season as Central State Lady Marauders advance to face Clark Atlanta in the championship game on Saturday, March 3 at 4:00 p.m. CST.
Game 21 (Men): No. 2 Clark Atlanta 74, No. 4 Benedict 72

Clark Atlanta's balanced scoring and press defesense allowed them to come from behind and defeat Benedict, 74-72. Anthony Williams led scoring for the Panthers as he posted 16 points. Despite struggles shooting in the first half, the Panthers finished the second half shooting 50 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from behind the arc, and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line. In comparison to the last game, the Panthers rebounding improved which allowed them 18 second chance points to Benedict's five. Cairo Brown led the Tigers offense as he managed 18 points while Umar Frost collected 10 rebounds. With Clark Atlanta's change in defensive strategy, they held the Tigers down to shooting 48.0 percent in the paint and 25 percent from the 3-point line. The Benedict Tigers fell to 21-10 on the season as the Clark Atlanta Panthers advance to the championship game played on Saturday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. CST.
