ATLANTA, Ga. - The #3 ranked Morehouse College basketball team improved to 15-2 on the season with a 66-58 win over a tough Albany State University team, on MLK Day in Atlanta, Ga.
The Maroon Tigers controlled the first half holding the Golden Rams to only 20 points and a 30.4 percentage from the floor while forcing 14 ASU turnovers. MHC had their largest lead of the half at 19-10 with 10:41 remaining, before going into the locker rooms with the 28-20 lead.
Morehouse held off a gritty Albany State team in the second half before pulling away in the last ten minutes of the game for the 66-58 victory.
Turning Point
After Albany State took their first lead of the game at 37-36 with 11:42 remaining in game, Morehouse blew the game open on consecutive three pointers by Robert Andrews and James Walker which gave the Maroon Tigers the lead for good.
Individual Leaders
Junior transfer guard Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) again led the Maroon Tigers with a game-high 23 points including connecting on 5-of-6 from behind the arc and six rebounds off the bench while senior forward Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) fell just short of picking up his second triple-double of the year as he finished with a team-high 12 rebounds, 10 points and eight assist. Senior forward James Walker (Stone Mountain, GA) chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.
Napoleon Harris had a double-double for Albany State as he scored 10 points while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.
