Benedict's Daniel Named Preseason All-American By Fastpitch News

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College senior softball player Starkeira Daniel has been named to the Fastpitch News 2019 Preseason All-American team.

Daniel hit .430 last season for the Lady Tigers and drove in 37 runs in 33 games and was named First Team All-SIAC. She hit six triples and ranked fifth in the nation in triples per game. She also ranked sixth in the nation in runs per game (1.42) and eighth in the nation in on-base percentage (.548). She was the only representative from the SIAC named to the preseason All-American team.

Benedict finished 23-15 last season and led Division II in runs scored per game and stolen bases for the second year in a row.

The 2019 season kicks off on Feb. 8 with a doubleheader on the road at Fayetteville State. The home opener is Feb. 9 against Shaw with a doubleheader starting at noon.
