Spring Hill Wins Second Consecutive Women’s Cross Country Championship Title

ROCK HILL, S.C. (October 25, 2019) – Spring Hill College women’s cross country claimed their second consecutive SIAC Women’s Cross Country Championship title at Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Friday morning.
 
Spring Hill placed five runners in top 15 in a field of 74 athletes as they secured their title with 35 points led by freshman Madeline Knightly who finished second with a time of 20:04.3. Benedict finished with four runners in the top 15 with 52 points. Savannah State trailed in third with 98 points. The remaining order of finish included Paine (144), Tuskegee (155), Clark Atlanta (170), Albany State (174), Kentucky State (187), LeMoyne-Owen (250), Miles (251), Fort Valley State (274), Central State (296). 
 
Spring Hill’s Craig McVey garnished the 2019 SIAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year award for his second consecutive year.
 
Benedict’s Stellah Kiptui was named the 2019 SIAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year leading the field with a time of 18:25.6.
 
The Badgers will represent the conference in the 2019 NCAA Regional Meet in Lakeland, Florida which is slated for Saturday, November 9.
