Kennedy Hits Game-Winning Buzzer Beater To Defeat Benedict

COLUMBIA, SC. – Morehouse's Malik Kennedy hit the game-winning buzzer beater to defeat Benedict College, 73-72,  on Saturday evening in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Maroon Tigers even their record at 8-8, 5-4 SIAC, while the Tigers fall to 7-10, 4-5 on the year.

BC controlled the pace of play for most of the first half and led by nine points several times before MHC was able to cut into the lead and went into the locker rooms down by only four points when freshman guard, Julian Alexander, hit a three at the end of the half making the score 43-39.

The teams would go toe-to-toe for the first 10 minutes of the second half exchanging buckets until Benedict started pulling away and built a seven point lead at 72-65 with just :41 remaining in the game. Morehouse would go on a 8-0 run to end the game capped by two Kennedy three-pointers including the game winner at the buzzer.
 
Turning Point
Down 72-70 with only two seconds remaining in the game, sophomore guard Malik Kennedy connected on a three-pointer from the left corner at the buzzer giving the Maroon Tigers the 73-72 victory on the road.

Individual Leaders
Senior guard, Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) finished with a double-double as he poured in a game-high 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while Kennedy (Toronto Ontario, Canada) had 18 points off the bench while connected on 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Freshman guard Julian Alexander got the start and chipped in with 15 points while connecting on 4-of-11 from long range.

Benedict was led by Deshawn Graham who finished with a team-high 18 points and Joseph Staton who had 14 points.
