Three Former SIAC Officials to Make NFL History Tonight

ATLANTA, GA. – Tonight's game, between the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will feature three former SIAC officials who will all help make NFL history for being a part of the first all-Black crew to officiate a NFL game.

Jerome Borger, a former SIAC student-athlete and league football official, will serve as tonight’s lead official. Borger will be joined by down judge Julian Mapp and umpire Barry Anderson, who are also former SIAC football officials.

SIAC Commissioner Gregory Moore remarked, “HBCUs, in general, and the SIAC, in particular, have been in the vanguard with respect to providing critical “first chance” professional opportunities to diverse individuals who otherwise would not have them. Tonight’s historic game underscores and illuminates the critically important contributions our institutions continue to make in connection with advancing inclusion in both intercollegiate and professional sports.”

Tonight’s game will air on ESPN at 8:15pm EST.
