Tuskegee Women's Basketball headed to the NCAA Tournament

The Golden Tigers will make an appearance in the 2021 NCAA tournament. The tournament will consist of 48 teams across division two. The bracket was shrunk from 64 teams due to COVID-19.

The Tuskegee women's basketball team was selected to the Division II NCAA Tournament on March 7th, being seeded fifth in the Southeast region national bracket.

Tuskegee is scheduled to face fourth-seeded Tusculum University at the Southeast regional tournament site in Jefferson City, Tenn. The winner will face Belmont Abbey, the number one seed.

Tuskegee is ranked No. 16 nationally in the latest WBCA NCAA Division II top 25 coach's poll this week.  Tuskegee finished with a 12-1 season with its only loss coming to Benedict college in a four-game series. Benedict College won the first of the four matchups, but Tuskegee came back to defeat Benedict College.

The NCAA unveiled its 48-team bracket Sunday night. The 18-3 Tusculum University is ranked No. 23 in the WBCA NCAA DII coach's poll. Tusculum is the 2021 South Athletic Conference champions who beat Lincoln Memorial University on March 7th, punching their way to a playoff push.

The tournament will begin with the regional quarterfinals on March 12. The regional semifinals will be played on March 13 with the regional championships being played on March 15.

Each regional winner will advance to the Elite Eight, which will be held March 23-26 in Columbus, Ohio.
