ATLANTA, Ga. (October 11, 2022) – Amaya Johnson (Kentucky State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball
Offensive Player of the Week, while
Mikayla Boyer (Spring Hill) earned
Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Audi Hicks (Kentucky State) was also tabbed
Setter of the Week alongside
Mikea Allen (Tuskegee) who earned
Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Amaya Johnson, Kentucky State
Utility | Senior | Phoenix, AZ
Johnson performed phenomenally during the SIAC West Cluster, she tallied 73 kills, four aces, and 87 digs in five total games with wins over Lane, Miles, and Tuskegee.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mikayla Boyer, Spring Hill
Libero | Redshirt Junior | Covington, La.
Boyer led the match in digs in two of the four wins this weekend for Spring Hill at the SIAC West Division Cluster. The Covington, La. native recorded 69 digs over four matches.
SETTER OF THE WEEK – Audi Hicks, Kentucky State
Setter | Sophomore | Carmel, IN
Hicks amassed 207 assists during five games and had a season high of 51 assists during their game with LeMoyne-Owen. During these games she tallied six aces as well.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Mikea Allen, Tuskegee
Setter | Freshman | Montgomery, Ala.
Allen had a great weekend in the SIAC West Cluster, helping the Golden Tigers earn their first two wins of the season. The freshman finished the cluster with 90 total assists and 35 digs, including a career-high 47 assist, 18 dig double-double against LeMoyne-Owen. Allen also recorded a double-double against Kentucky State with a 21 assist, 11 dig performance.
