MACON, Ga. (November 4, 2022) – Morehouse won the 2022 Cricket Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men’s Cross Country Championship on Friday morning at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course at Middle Georgia State University.
The Maroon Tigers claimed their 25th championship title and finished with a team score of 31 points. All seven of Morehouse’s runners finished in the top 20, including five student-athletes who placed in the Top 10. Coach Willie H. Hill of Morehouse was named the 2022 Cricket SIAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Morehouse’s fastest runner, Brian Kemei, completed the 8k race in 25:59.95 finishing second place overall for the SIAC Championship. Kemei was joined by teammates Jordan Ellul (27:11.94), Johndell Cumberbatch (27:35.89), Ronny Kiprono (27:37.86), and Taylor L. Battle (27:40.77) in the top ten.
Benedict College finished second place overall with a score of 49 points with two runners in the top ten. Runner of The Year, Donald Kibet finished first place overall covering the 8K course with a time of 24:50.38, more than one minute ahead of the second-place finisher. He was accompanied by teammate Nelson Kipkemboi who placed third overall with a time of 26:43.38.

Central State won third (92), Spring Hill (104), Clark Atlanta (138), Savannah State (185), Kentucky State (202), Edward Waters (218), Fort Valley State (237), and Tuskegee (272).
The 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Court Region Championship is set for November 19 in Lakeland, Florida at the Holloway Park and Nature Preserve.
