Week 4: Basketball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (December 6, 2022) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.
 
For women, Nyla Allen (Savannah State) was named Player of the Week, while Keyshuna Fair (Allen)earned Newcomer of the Week.
 
For men, Eleik Bowles (Savannah State) was named Player of the Week, alongside Myson Lowe (Fort Valley State) who earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Women’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Nyla Allen, Savannah State

Second year point guard Nyla Allen led the Lady Tigers to two victories this week. In Monday's SIAC game against Central State, Allen scored a career-high 28 points en route to an 89-72 win. The starting guard went 8-for-11 from the floor and recorded 8 assists and 3 steals. In Saturday's non-conference, 74-63, win against Anderson University, Allen led the field with 27 points, going 9-for-16 from the field.
 
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Keyshuna Fair, Allen

Fair, a junior transfer, led Allen with 10 points falling to Lane College last week. The junior shooting guard then scored 10 more points in a close loss to Kentucky State on Saturday. She also added four rebounds, two blocks, and a steal on the week.

Men’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK Eleik Bowles, Savannah State

Eleik Bowles led Savannah State in all three games this week. In a close loss to Central State on Monday, he put up 18 points. In a mid-week, 94-83, win against Flagler, Bowles put up a career-high 40 points. He was 16-for-20 from the field, 5-for-5 from deep, and 3-for-5 from the charity strip. Against Clayton State on Saturday, Bowles led the Tigers with 12 points.
 
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Myson Lowe, Fort Valley State

Lowe directed the FVSU offense to register a pair of SIAC wins over Spring Hill College and LeMoyne-Owen College. The sophomore guard averaged 19 points, 2.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1 steal. In the feat over SHC, Lowe shot 8-of-13 from the field, 3-of-6 from behind the arc, and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line for a 27-point game to add to his eight assists, three rebounds, and a steal. He made 9-of-10 from the free-throw line for 11 points to go along with seven assists, two rebounds, and a steal in a win over LOC.
