FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats did what they had to do for the Saturday afternoon victory. Fort Valley State's defense showed up and held the Kentucky State attack in check and prevailed with a 9-7 gridiron win. On 4th-and-15 from their own 42-yardline, the Thorobreds (0-2) quarterback Jonathan Jerry scrambled out of the pocket into open field only to have the Wildcats (2-0) Tim Alderman hunt him down three yards short to turn over the ball with 1:35 left. FVSU took three knees and sealed the tight win.

Birmingham, Ala. – Miles Golden Bears fell to University of West Alabama on Saturday at home, 31-0. UWA’s defense limited Miles College (0-2) to just 2.44 yards per play on 66 snaps. Jalen Parker completed 8-14 for 76 yards to lead Miles College. Marcus Lodge caught two passes for 29 yards. Parker also was the leading rusher picking up just 22 yards on nine carries. On defense, James Sawyer had 10 tackles, while Austin Brundidge added nine.

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Benedict College Tigers shut down the Lane Dragons and held them to just 92 yards of total offense on a wet and muddy field and took a 14-0 victory on Saturday. The Tigers improve to 2-0 on the season. Lane falls to 0-2. This game does not count in the SIAC standings.

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Central State Marauders fell to Lincoln in Saturday's home opener, 26-21. Neither team was effective on offense in the first half as the only score came by way of special teams when CSU returner Brandon Brock took a 54-yard punt in for the score with 36 seconds left in the second quarter.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Albany State Golden Rams (1-1) gave the Florida A&M Rattlers (1-2, 0-1 SWAC) all they could handle in the newly-renovated Bragg Memorial Stadium.  With thousands of Golden Rams making the 80-mile trip to Tallahassee from Albany, the atmosphere was just right for the traditional SIAC rivals from decades past to reignite the rivalry on this day. The Golden Rams opened the game with a stop and went right down the field and scored on a Marcuis Fulks run, taking a 7-0 lead.  From there, the defense dug in a grinded out against the FCS Division Rattlers.

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The Allen University Football team's home opener against rival Johnson C. Smith Univ. was called off at halftime due to a severe lightning storm in the area. The Yellow Jackets were leading 27-20 at halftime after scoring two touchdowns late in the second quarter to take the lead. However, since the game did not reach the fourth quarter it will be considered a no-contest and the stats will not count.

Atlanta, GA – Morehouse played their second home game losing 42-0 against the University of West Georgia at B.T. Harvey Stadium on Saturday evening. In the Second half, the Wolves go on a tear, scoring four touchdowns in the third quarter and one more in the fourth quarter. Maroon Tiger running back Earnest Davis ran for 61 yards in the game.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a battle of attrition, Savannah State and Edward Waters traded punch-for-punch on Saturday, but the Tigers held their will at the line to pick up their first win of the season. Trailing by three points, Edward Waters started the final drive of the game on their own 29-yard line with two minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Six plays later, with a new set of downs and one minute to play, on Savannah State's 23-yard line, they looked poised to score.

HAMPTON, Va. – In a battle between historic programs, Tuskegee (0-2) dropped the non-conference matchup to Hampton, 42-10, Saturday night inside Armstrong Stadium. After receiving the opening kickoff, Tuskegee threw the first of a trio of interceptions on their fifth play from scrimmage, allowing Hampton to start their first drive on the Golden Tiger side of the field.
