Football Players of the Week for Week 5 on Monday, October 2. Albany State's
Isaiah Knowles was named
Offensive Player of the Week, while
Central State's
Domonique Davis earned
Defensive Player of the Week. Also recognized were Fort Valley State's
Elan Hall as
Special Teams Player of the Week and
Edward Waters'
Johnny Jones,
who
took home a second title as
Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isaiah Knowles, Albany State University
Quarterback | Sophomore | Tampa, Florida
Tampa native and sophomore quarterback Isaiah Knowles showcased an impressive performance in a recent matchup against Kentucky State. Knowles was instrumental in leading the Golden Rams to their third consecutive victory, displaying remarkable accuracy and poise on the field. He connected on an impressive 14 out of 19 passes, accumulating a total of 208 yards and notching an impressive 4 touchdowns without a single interception. Knowles didn't limit his contributions to just passing; he also demonstrated his versatility by rushing the ball 7 times for an additional 77 yards. His all-around performance was a key factor in Albany State's success, solidifying his position as a rising star in collegiate football.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Domonique Davis, Central State University
Defensive Back | Junior | Atlanta, Georgia
In a hard-fought Saturday showdown against rival Miles College, Central State may not have emerged as the victors, but junior defensive back Domonique Davis left an indelible mark on the field. The Atlanta native showcased his skills on the field and walked away with 9 unassisted tackles and 3 assisted tackles in this contest.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Elan Hall, Fort Valley State University
Punter | Freshman | Acworth, Georgia
Elan Hall was instrumental in Fort Valley State University's 49-21 victory against Allen on Saturday night. He punted three times for a total of 130 yards, averaging an impressive 43.3 yards per punt. Hall's precision was evident as he pinned Allen at their own 2-yard line with a 52-yard punt in the 1st quarter and at their 15-yard line with a 46-yard punt in the 2nd quarter. His performance was a game-changer for his team.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Johnny Jones, Edward Waters University
Wide Receiver | Sophomore | Pahokee, Florida
In a thrilling matchup against Savannah State, sophomore wide receiver Johnny Jones delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing his talent and contributing significantly to his team's success. Jones hauled in an impressive 11 receptions, tallying an impressive 119 receiving yards, and found the end zone twice, scoring two crucial touchdowns. This remarkable display of skill and determination was instrumental in securing a hard-fought 26-25 victory for Edward Waters.
