ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced
Volleyball Players of the Week for Week 8 on Tuesday, October 24. Spring Hill's
Brooke Borgmeyer was named
Offensive Player of the Week, and
Mikayla Boyer brought in a second title for the Badgers as she earned the title of
Defensive Player of the Week. Also recognized were Miles'
Anya Creecy, named
Setter of the Week, and
Mia Saavedra, taking a third title for Spring Hill, claiming the title of
Newcomer of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brooke Borgmeyer, Spring Hill College
Outside Hitter | R-Junior | Wildwood, Missouri
Brooke Borgmeyer, the talented redshirt junior from Spring Hill College from Wildwood, Missouri, showcased her dominance on the court this weekend at the SIAC West Division Cluster II. Borgmeyer played a pivotal role in her team's success, leading in two out of the four clean sweeps in kills throughout the tournament. Throughout five intense matches, Borgmeyer demonstrated her offensive prowess, amassing an impressive total of 36 kills. Her consistent performance throughout the weekend is a testament to her skill and determination. In the broader context of the SIAC, Borgmeyer currently ranks sixth in kills for the season, with an impressive tally of 232 kills. Her contribution to her team's success has been invaluable, solidifying her reputation as one of the conference's top performers.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mikayla Boyer, Spring Hill College

In a stellar performance over the weekend, Mikayla Boyer emerged as a defensive force to be reckoned with for the Spring Hill College Badgers. The graduate student, hailing from Covington, Louisiana, showcased her remarkable skills as the team's libero, leading them to an impressive five consecutive clean sweeps against SIAC opponents. Boyer's remarkable contribution was underscored by her impressive total of 72 digs across these five victories, solidifying her status as a defensive standout. Her exceptional performance this season places her firmly in the upper echelons of the conference, currently ranking fourth in the SIAC with a remarkable tally of 395 digs.
SETTER OF THE WEEK – Anya Creecy, Miles College

In an outstanding week for Miles College's Golden Bears, sophomore setter Anya Creecy showcased her exceptional skills on the volleyball court. Hailing from LaPlace, Louisiana, Creecy proved to be a vital asset to her team's success as they achieved a remarkable 4-1 record over the week. One of the most remarkable aspects of Creecy's performance was her impressive average of 31.2 assists per match. Her precise and strategic setting abilities were instrumental in helping her team secure victories, and her consistency in delivering well-placed assists was a testament to her dedication and talent on the court.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Mia Saavedra, Spring Hill College

Saavedra, the talented freshman setter from Spring Hill College hailing from Tampa, Florida, continues to make waves in conference play with her exceptional performances. This past weekend was no exception, as Saavedra played a pivotal role in the Badgers' impressive run of five consecutive clean sweeps. In these five matches, Saavedra showcased her versatility and all-around skills. She contributed 39 crucial digs, showcasing her defensive prowess. Her 83 assists demonstrated her ability to orchestrate the offense efficiently, setting her teammates up for success. Additionally, Saavedra displayed her attacking abilities with 33 kills, proving she's a force to be reckoned with not just in her setting role but also at the net.
