ATLANTA, Ga. (February 21, 2023) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.
For women,
Laurie Thomas (Kentucky State) was named
Player of the Week, while
Keyshuna Fair (Allen) earned
Newcomer of the Week.
For men,
Jalon Andrews (Kentucky State) was named
Player of the Week, alongside,
Myson Lowe (Fort Valley State) who earned
Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on
Tuesday.
Women’s Basketball
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Laurie Thomas, Kentucky State
Guard | Senior | Athens, GA
Thomas led the Thorobreds to a 2-0 record last week with 19 points against non-conference opponent Asbury and scored 10 points on the road at Spring Hill.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Keyshuna Fair, Allen
Guard | Junior | Anderson, S.C.
Newcomer Keyshuna Fair led Allen to a 1-1 week by averaging eight points, three rebounds, and two assists and shooting 40% from three-point line (4-of-10). She added two steals and a block. She scored 11 points in the loss to CAU with three 3-pointers.

Men’s Basketball
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jalon Andrews, Kentucky State
Forward | Senior | Magnolia, MS
Senior forward Jalon Andrews had a career high of 36 points and added seven rebounds and two steals in an exciting 84-83 win over Spring Hill last Saturday. Against Morehouse last week, he collected 13 points, eight rebounds, and a steal.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Myson Lowe, Fort Valley State
Guard | Sophomore | Atlanta, GA
Lowe in the team's lone game totaled 19 points shooting 6-of-17 from the field, 3-of-8 from behind the three-point line, and 4-of-4 from the free-throw to go with four rebounds and a steal in a win over Edward Waters.
