Week 11: Basketball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 7, 2023) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.
 
For women, Tederia Ashley (Miles) was named Player of the Week, while Keyshuna Fair (Allen) earned Newcomer of the Week.
 
For men, Gjerard Wilson (LeMoyne-Owen) was named Player of the Week, alongside, Cameron Sembly (Allen) who earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Women’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Tederia Ashley, Miles
Forward/Center  |  Sophomore  |  Huntsville, AL
 
Ashley averaged 15.6 points and 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals across three games as the Lady Bears went 2-1. In a win at Central State, she scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Lady Bears.
 
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Keyshuna Fair, Allen

Junior Guard Keyshuna Fair led Allen to an 2-1 record last week as she scored 14 points in the upset win over Savannah State and then set a season-high of 22 points in the win over Albany State. She totaled seven rebounds, five steals and 36 points on the week while averaging 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals.

Men’s Basketball
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gjerard Wilson, LeMoyne-Owen

Gjerard Wilson averaged 15.5 points per game in two wins last week over SIAC opponents Kentucky State and Spring Hill. In the game against KSU, the junior guard led the Magicians shooting 7-of-10 from the field finishing with 17 points. He followed up in the game against SHC shooting 5-of-9 from the field finishing with 14 points and added three rebounds.
 
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Cameron Sembly, Allen

Senior wing Cameron Sembly led Allen to a 1-1 week as he averaged 15 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and added two blocks and two steals. He scored 13 points in the loss to Savannah playing all 40 min and then scored 17 points on Saturday in the win over Albany State while shooting 6-of-7 from the floor.
