WEEK 5: TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 11, 2023) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Jordan Smith (Albany State) and Kiyah Pittmon (Albany State) were named this week’s men and women Track Athletes of the Week, alongside Sundiata Washington (Tuskegee) and Diamond Richardson (Lane) who collected this week’s men and women Field Athletes of the Week honor.


Women’s Track and Field
Track Performer of the Week – Kiyah Pittmon, Albany State
Pittmon represented the Golden Rams well at the 2023 Alice Coachman Invitational hosted by ASU’s track and field team last weekend. The junior won the 800-meter event with a time of 2:24.79.
 
Field Performer of the Week – Diamond Richardson, Lane
Richardson, a junior at Lane, recorded two wins in the shotput and discus events at the Harding Bison Open last week in Searcy, AR. She won the shotput with a throw of 13.77 meters, a personal record. Additionally, she won the discus with a throw of 43 meters, also a personal record. 
 
Men’s Track and Field
Track Performer of the Week – Jordan Smith, Albany State
Albany State’s Jordan Smith won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.70 last weekend at the 2023 Alice Coachman Invitational. 
 
Field Performer of the Week – Sundiata Washington, Tuskegee
Washington had an outstanding performance for the Golden Tigers at the 2023 Alice Coachman Invitational in Albany, GA. The senior placed second in the men’s high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters.
