ATLANTA, Ga. (April 17, 2023)– The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its softball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
Tanijah Washington (Benedict) was named
Player of the Week alongside
Morgan Moon (Allen) who was named
Co-Player of the Week.
Jodasea Peterson (Edward Waters) earned
Pitcher of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tanijah Washington, Benedict
Third Base | Freshman | New Ellenton, SC
Washington had five hits in the Savannah State series with two doubles, bringing in five runners. The freshman assisted on seven plays with only one error for the entire series.
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Morgan Moon, Allen
Outfield | Senior | Newberry, SC
Outfielder Morgan Moon led the Allen offense on the week hitting .500 (5-for-10) with three singles, a double, triple, and an RBI. She also stole two bases and walked once as she reached base six times in the three games. She also made numerous stellar catches and defensive plays in the outfield with an error-free weekend.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jodasea Peterson, Edward Waters
Pitcher | Junior | Jacksonville, FL
In seven innings of work, Peterson secured the series sweep of Clark Atlanta last weekend. The junior pitcher from Jacksonville, Florida allowed only three hits in wins over the Panthers. Peterson struck out 11 batters in the home series.
