SIAC Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Honors Announced

FORT VALLEY, GA (April 20, 2023) - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced the 2023 Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams, featuring 14 first and second-team representatives from the league’s top players.
 
Benedict’s sophomore outside hitter Ras Jesse Delancy earned his second consecutive Player of the Year honor alongside Victor Scherer of Central State who also earned his second consecutive Libero of the Year award.
 
The Cricket SIAC Men’s Volleyball Championship is scheduled to begin Thursday, April 20 which will feature Kenyon Haynes of Edward Waters who was named this year’s Setter of the Year.
 
Edward Waters’ Head Coach Lauren Ford was selected as the 2023 SIAC Coach of the Year in her first season with the Tigers.
 
The all-conference team was voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. 
 
Jesse Delancy, outside hitter for Benedict, collects his second consecutive Player of the Year award after a stellar sophomore season with the Tigers. He currently leads the SIAC and NCAA in kills per set (5.57) and points per set (6.32) and is ranked second in league for hitting percentage (.335). The Bahamas native finished the regular season ranked fourth in the conference for aces, collecting 26 this season.
 
Victor Scherer, in his second season with the Marauders, has earned his second consecutive Libero of the Year honor. The sophomore libero currently leads the NCAA and SIAC in digs (341) and digs per set (3.48). He has also recorded 98 assists this season and 1.00 assists per set. 
 
Edward Waters’ sophomore setter, Kenyon Haynes, was named this year’s Setter of the Year. The Chicago native tallied 277 assists (8.94 assists per set) this season to lead the league.
 
Ford, in her first season with the Tigers, led Edward Waters to undefeated regular season in conference play, second consecutive SIAC Regular Season title, and No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
 
The Elite 14 award recognized the student-athlete who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the SIAC championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Kade Andruski of Kentucky State is the recipient of this year’s Elite 14 award.
 
The 2023 SIAC Men’s Volleyball Championship single-elimination tournament is set to take place April 20-21 at HPE Arena on Fort Valley State’s campus in Fort Valley, Ga. More information about the championship tournament can be found here.
