ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced 
Volleyball Players of the Week for Week 2 on Thursday, September 14. Spring Hill's 
Airyonna Weaver was named 
Offensive Player of the Week, and 
Mikayla Boyer returned to take home the title of
 Defensive Player of the Week. Also recognized were Central State's 
Brooke Morris, named 
Setter of the Week, and Spring Hill's 
Mia Saavedra, named 
Newcomer of the Week.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Airyonna Weaver, Spring Hill
Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter | Junior | Mobile, Alabama
In an impressive display of talent, junior middle blocker and outside hitter Airyonna Weaver played a pivotal role in her team's outstanding start to the season. The Alabama native led the Badgers to a flawless 3-0 record, securing noteworthy victories over the 11
th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State and a resilient Oklahoma Baptist. Her exceptional performance during these matches earned her well-deserved recognition, as she was honored with the prestigious All-Tournament honors at the SpringHill Suites Invitational. Weaver's contributions have undoubtedly set the tone for Spring Hill's promising season ahead.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mikayla Boyer, Spring Hill
Outside Hitter/Libero | Graduate | Covington, Louisiana
Mikayla Boyer, the powerhouse outside hitter and libero, has significantly impacted the 2023 season thus far. As the reigning SIAC Libero of the Year, Boyer's exceptional skills have played a pivotal role in the Badgers' remarkable 3-0 start to the season. Her outstanding performance was highlighted by a stunning upset victory over the 11
th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State, showcasing her prowess on the court. Additionally, Boyer led her team to impressive wins over the challenging opponents, Oklahoma Baptist and regional rival Mississippi College. Her leadership and versatility continue to be a driving force behind Spring Hill's early-season success.
 
SETTER OF THE WEEK – Brooke Morris, Central State
Setter | Freshman | Richmond, Texas
Morris has made an impressive start to her collegiate volleyball career at Central State. With a remarkable 122 assists accumulated over the course of the season, the freshman setter has emerged as the pivotal playmaker for her team. During Week 2 alone, she showcased her exceptional skills by dishing out 54 assists in the five matches played. Way to go, Brooke!
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Mia Saavedra, Spring Hill
Setter/Outside Hitter | Freshman | Tampa, Florida
In her remarkable collegiate debut, Saavedra made an immediate impact by guiding the Badgers to a stunning victory over the nationally ranked Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs. This talented Tampa native continues to shine throughout the season, playing a pivotal role in securing essential victories against Oklahoma Baptist and Mississippi College, a formidable opponent in the Gulf South Conference. Mia's exceptional skills and contributions to the team's successes have solidified her status as a rising star in collegiate volleyball.
