ATLANTA, GA - The countdown continues as celebrated programs within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) gear up for a historic matchup at MetLife Stadium! Today, the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College and the Golden Rams of Albany State University will face off during the second annual Toyota HBCU New York Classic. This spectacular event has quickly become a cornerstone of HBCU culture and promises an epic football showdown that can only be described as electrifying!
The Toyota HBCU New York Classic, presented by Walmart, is renowned as the world's largest HBCU Homecoming and the unofficial kickoff of HBCU Homecoming week. It creates a thrilling atmosphere, with indisputable energy, as fans, students, and alums from all 107 HBCUs nationwide gather at MetLife Stadium for a day of collegiate football action. Last year's matchup pitted the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College against the Bison of Howard University, resulting in a memorable contest where the Bison dominated with a resounding 31-0 shutout win over Morehouse, setting the bar high for this year's event.
After an incredible inaugural year that drew over 35,000 fans, this year's matchup promises to deliver an unforgettable experience, celebrating the rich tradition of the HBCU game day atmosphere. The halftime show is set to be a highlight of the day, featuring a special celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, complete with surprise musical guests, spectacular drumline performances, and an electrifying battle of the bands that will undoubtedly have the crowd on their feet!
Slated for a 3 p.m. kickoff, the second annual Toyota HBCU New York Classic will air live on CNBC and be available for simultaneous streaming on
