SIAC Cross Country Weekly Honors: Oct. 8

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Cross Country Runners of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 8, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances last week. Edward Waters’ Ian Kimutai and Tuskegee’s Anaya Martin were recognized.

MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK – IAN KIMUTAI, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Freshman | Eldoret, Kenya
Kimutai finished first in the men's 6k race at the Ava Marie Invitational on Saturday morning. He finished the 6k in a time of 25:38.7, nearly a full minute before the second-place finisher. His average mile was 05:09.5. Kimutai helped Edward Waters finish 10th out of 13 teams and it's second first place finish in as many meets.

WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK – ANAYA MARTIN, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Junior | Clarksburg, Md.
Martin put on an impressive display in the women’s 6k event, finishing with a time of 24:32.46, placing 64th overall in a highly competitive field of over 190 runners. Martin led the Tuskegee women’s team to a 17th place team finish, as she continues to be a standout performer for the Golden Tigers. Her consistency and determination have made her a top contender in SIAC races this season, and her time in Georgia ranks among the best in her collegiate career.
