COLUMBIA, S.C. — As fans and alumni celebrated homecoming in the stands and the Yellow Jackets celebrated senior day on the field Saturday,
Allen University's football team dominated
Central State in the Yellow Jackets final home game of the season, 41-3.
Allen surrendered their only points for the entire afternoon on Central State's opening drive as the Marauders kicked a 27-yard field goal with 9:28 to play in the opening quarter to take the lead, 3-0.
The early field goal would be where successful kicks started and ended for CSU as the Yellow Jackets bounced back to block a pair of kicks, one by
Rayquan Williams and another by
Joshua Burley. This is the first time in 2024 that Allen blocked multiple kicks in a game.
Trailing by three points, the Yellow Jackets' offense took the field for their first drive of the afternoon and orchestrated a nine-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off by a two-yard rushing touchdown from
Fabian Duncan to jump ahead, 7-3.
Duncan finished the game with 14 carries for 54 yards and three of Allen's six total touchdowns. He becomes just the second player in Allen's NCAA era (since 2021) to record three rushing touchdowns in a single game, joining his veteran teammate,
Beau Herrington.
The freshman tailback extended the Yellow Jackets' lead in the second quarter, 14-3, with a 19-yard rushing score with just under seven minutes to go before the break.
After allowing the field goal in the first quarter, Allen's special teams unit bounced back to block a season-best two kicks against the Marauders. The first of two blocks came with 4:46 to play in the second quarter as
Joshua Burley raced past blockers to deflect a CSU punt that sailed out of bounds at the CSU 28-yard line.
The Yellow Jackets quickly turned the blocked kick into offensive momentum as, on the first play of their ensuing drive, quarterback
Jamir Dismukes connected with
Montrell White down the left sideline for a 28-yard touchdown. With 4:23 to play in the second quarter, Allen was in front by 18.
Allen managed to find the endzone once more before the break as Dismukes found
Winston Reese wide-open over the middle of the field for a 28-yard touchdown with 1:24 to play. Central State attempted to score a touchdown of their own prior to the clock running out, but Allen defensive linemen
Darius Williamsand
Anthony Waddler made a critical tackle at the one-yard line to keep the Marauders out of the endzone as time expired. At the half, Allen was in front, 28-3.
Later in the third quarter, Allen continued to find offensive success as
Fabian Duncan punched in his third score of the day, this one from five yards out, with 6:27 to go. On their next drive, Dismukes tossed a 60-yard touchdown strike to
Kaleb Commings down the left sideline to extend Allen's lead one final time, 41-3, with 2:23 left in the third quarter.
Commings lead all Allen receivers with a career-high of 110 yards to pair with his touchdown.
Nanders Lawrence followed Commings with six catches for 86 yards.
Through the air, Dismukes completed 12-of-14 pass attempts for 265 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. On the ground, the Cleveland, Ohio, native added 57 yards on six carries.
As a team, Allen totaled 458 yards of total offense, 284 passing and 174 rushing, and punted just three times - all of which came in the fourth quarter.
Defensively,
Sharrod Simmon and
Andre Phillips set the tone for the Yellow Jackets with a team-leading seven stops each.
Rayquan Williams played a vital role in Allen's success by blocking a field goal and also intercepting a CSU pass.
Tyreshon Freeman also picked-off a pass to mark his second interception of his redshirt freshman campaign.
The Yellow Jackets conclude their 2024 season on the road next Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the AME Classic at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
