Clark Atlanta Panthers hold off Central State, 77-70

Clark Atlanta improves to 2-0 in conference play

ATLANTA — Clark Atlanta edged out Central State (Ohio) in a tightly contested Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday night, securing a 77-70 victory at the L.S. Epps Gym.

The Panthers (5-4, 2-0 SIAC) relied on balanced scoring and dominance in the paint to claim the win. Forward Shemani Fuller and guard Jalen Williams led the charge, each scoring 18 points. Fuller added six rebounds, while Williams recorded a double-double with 10 boards and chipped in two steals. Martez Jones also contributed with a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Central State (3-8, 2-3 SIAC) kept the game close thanks to their sharpshooting from beyond the arc, hitting 11 three-pointers.

Clark Atlanta controlled the glass, outrebounding Central State 38-28, and outscored the Marauders 48-20 in the paint. The Panthers pulled away in the second half with key defensive stops and timely buckets from Ny'Mire Little, who finished with 16 points and four assists.

Despite trailing by eight at halftime, Central State managed to cut the lead to two with 5:30 remaining, but Clark Atlanta responded with a 7-0 run to regain control. The Panthers held on down the stretch, converting free throws and making defensive stands.
