Edward Waters collects 84-72 SIAC home-opening win against Lane

Jacksonville, Fla. — The Edward Waters men's basketball team captured a 84-72 home win over Lane to open Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home play. With the victory the Tigers move to 2-1 in conference play with a 6-4 mark overall so far on the season.

Edward Waters was fueled by a collective offensive effort as five different Tigers scored in double figures. The Tigers dominated the Dragons in paint points, points off turnovers, second chance points and fast break points. EWU also outscored Lane despite shooting a lower percentage from the field and from three point range.

Junior guard Prince Davies, III led the Tigers with 24 points, seven rebounds and a game-high four steals. Davies connected on 10 of his 12 foul shots. Ja'Kobe Williams tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, a team-best four assists and two steals on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor.

Amari FloydCyrus Huggard-Noel and Kristian Ford all scored 10 points each the Tigers. Floyd finished with four assists, three rebounds and two steals. He also threw down a couple of powerful dunks while also sinking two three pointers. Huggard-Noel corralled five rebounds and dished out two assists. Ford snagged a rebound and a steal with connecting on five shots from the charity stripes.

"Great team effort on both ends of the floor," expressed Edward Waters men's basketball Head Coach Cabral Huff. "Five players in double figures and 19 assists as a team really shows that on the offensive end. We also did a great job controlling the defensive boards."

The Tigers will continue home SIAC action as they welcome in the visiting LeMoyne-Owen Magicians to the Adams-Jenkins Complex on Monday evening December 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
