Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers wrangle Thorobreds to improve to 7-3

Women's basketball jumps out to best 10-game start since 2013

ATLANTA  Sophomore Atreonia Garner poured in a team-high 16 points to power Clark Atlanta past Kentucky State, 62-52, to improve to 7-3 on the season. This marks the team's best 10-game start since their 2013 campaign.

Clark Atlanta's offense came alive in the third quarter, turning a slim halftime lead into a commanding advantage. Garner led the charge, pouring in 16 points, including several critical baskets during the Panthers' decisive run. Forward Corriana Evans added 15 points, seven of which came from the free-throw line, and Lizzie Walker recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Panthers' defense was relentless, forcing 22 turnovers and swatting away six shots. Faith Bland and Walker anchored the interior, making life difficult for Kentucky State in the paint. Clark Atlanta's aggressive defensive pressure also led to a 20-13 edge in points off turnovers.

Clark Atlanta dominated the fast-break game, scoring 22 points in transition while showcasing their depth with 22 points off the bench.

The Lady Panthers' performance in the second quarter set the tone, as they held Kentucky State to just six points and created key separation. From there, Clark Atlanta controlled the tempo and never looked back, weathering any late-game surges.
