Benedict College Lady Tigers Edge Tuskegee on Last-Second Shot, 52-51

TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Taylor Christmas hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to help lift the Benedict College Lady Tigers to a 52-51 victory over Tuskegee in a SIAC women's basketball game on Thursday night.
 
The Lady Tigers trailed by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter, but rallied with six straight points to cut the lead to 46-45 with 3:46 left in the game. Tuskegee had a 50-47 lead with 30 seconds left. A steal by Ghylissa Knowles led to a layup by Jaleya Ford to cut the lead to 50-49 with 20 seconds left. Tuskegee sank one of two free throws with 12 seconds left to make it 51-49.
 
Christmas then hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Benedict the victory.
 
The Lady Tigers improve to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the SIAC.
 
Christmas led the Lady Tigers with 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Alaysia Nash added 12 points.
 
Benedict made 8-of-16 shots in the fourth quarter, and held Tuskegee to 2-of-10 shooting.
 
Benedict will return to action with a home non-conference contest against Augusta University on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
