SIAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors: Sept. 17

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 17, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in matches played last week. Naomy Vergez (Edward Waters), Myra Lopez (Allen), Emily Cook (Spring Hill) and Brooklyn Hall (Spring Hill) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – NAOMY VERGEZ, EDWARD WATERS UNIVERSITY
Outside Hitter | Senior | La Romana, Dominican Republic
Although Edward Waters went 0-4 in the Union Bulldogs Volleyball Classic, senior Naomy Vergez was among the few bright spots for the Lady Tigers. Despite playing with a bruised ankle, Vergez recorded 39 kills and 25 digs over four matches, highlighted by a 13-kill, 10-dig performance against Arkansas-Monticello.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MYRA LOPEZ, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Libero | Sophomore | Mesa, Ariz.

In last week's match against Paine College, Lopez recorded a team-high 21 digs while also tallying a service ace in the victory.

SETTER OF THE WEEK – EMILY COOK, SPRING HILL COLLEGE
Setter | R-Freshman | Greenville, Ind.

Cook led the Badgers with 114 assists across four matches at the Outback Invitational. She recorded 37 in the 3-2 win over Florida Tech and 38 against (RV) Wingate.  She currently leads the SIAC with 174 assists and 7.57 assists per set on the season.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – BROOKLYN HALL, SPRING HILL COLLEGE
Outside Hitter | Freshman | Geraldine, Ala.

Hall led the Badgers with 41 total kills through four matches at the Outback Invitational this weekend. She recorded 13 against Florida Tech and (RV) Wingate. Hall leads the conference with 74 kills so far this season.
