Badgers fall to Oklahoma Baptist and Southwest Minnesota State

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Spring Hill College volleyball team fell 3-0 to (RV) Oklahoma Baptist and 3-0 to No. 11 Southwest Minnesota State on opening day of the 2024 season at the SpringHill Suites Invitational, hosted by West Florida, on Friday.
 
The Badgers faced both nationally-recognized opponents at the UWF Field House. Eight Badgers made their debuts on the court, including six freshmen.
 
In the first match versus OBU, Spring Hill fell in a closely contested match 22-25, 23-25, 13-25. SHC recorded six blocks to Oklahoma Baptist's four. Brooke Borgmeyer and Hayley Hillman led the match with three total blocks apiece.
 
The Badgers fell to Southwest Minnesota State (16-25, 25-27, 17-25), who was ranked 11th in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll. Freshman outside hitter Brooklyn Hall led the team with 11 kills and three aces. Spring Hill led the match with four aces. Another freshman Badger, Camille McDermott, also led the team with 25 assists.
