Lane College Dragons top Central State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio — In a hard-fought and tightly contested matchup, the Lane College Dragons triumphed over Central State with a narrow 61-58 victory on Saturday.

GAME SUMMARY
The Dragons came out strong in the first quarter, taking a 16-7 lead after the first 10 minutes, thanks to a balanced offensive attack and solid defense. However, Central State responded in the second quarter, closing the gap to just 25-22 at halftime with a solid defensive performance and timely baskets from Peterson and Savoy.

Lane College extended their lead in the third quarter, as Carey and Lattimore hit critical shots, including a couple of key three-pointers, to help the Dragons lead 42-33 heading into the final period. But Central State made a push in the fourth, led by Peterson's sharp shooting and Savoy's rebounding and scoring.

With the Marauders closing in and trailing by just three points in the final minute, the Dragons held their ground. Lane's defense, particularly in limiting second-chance opportunities, helped them stave off Central State's late-game surge. The Marauders had several chances to tie or take the lead, but Lane's defensive stops and free throw shooting sealed the victory.
