MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Lane College volleyball team battled through momentum swings and clutch moments to earn a gritty five-set victory over Clark Atlanta (25–20, 22–25, 20–25, 25–17, 18–16) on Saturday afternoon inside Bruce Hall at Johnson Gymnasium.
Lane's balanced offensive attack featured five players with at least six kills, led by Wynter Hill's 12 kills and Jadyn Powell's 11. Hill also added two solo blocks and two block assists for a team-high 16 points, while Powell notched four service aces and nine digs.
Kyra Gaston delivered 10 kills and 13 digs, while Malaya Young chipped in seven kills and five block assists as Lane dominated the net with 14 total team blocks. Setter Jayla Johnson guided the offense with 17 assists and added four digs, while Shaniah Jones anchored the back row with 25 assists and 11 digs for a double-double performance.
After taking the opening set 25–20, Lane dropped the next two frames but responded in dominant fashion. The Dragons hit .267 in the fourth set to even the match, then fought off multiple match points in the decisive fifth set to close out the 18–16 win.
Lane finished the match with a .130 hitting percentage compared to Clark Atlanta's .128, and the Dragons tallied nine service aces and 55 digs in the effort.
