Historic Run Continues as Kentucky State Blanks Lane 55-0

JACKSON, Tenn. — Kentucky State's 55-0 shutout of Lane on Saturday improved the Thorobreds to 8-2, their first shutout of the Dragons since a 34-0 victory in 1992.
 
The Thorobreds controlled the game on the ground, rushing for 266 yards. Chad Elzy led the effort with 110 yards and one of three rushing touchdowns, while Donovan Journey and Jaun Gainous each added a score.
 
In the passing game, both Denim Johnson and Gainous saw action under center. Johnson completed 16 of 29 attempts for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Joshua Thomas Jr. led all receivers with 55 yards on three catches, including a touchdown, while Jon McCall added 53 yards and a score.
 
Defensively, Aiden Anestor sealed the win with an interception late in the fourth quarter. Marquez Colvin and Mataye Youman paced the defense with five tackles apiece, as the Thorobreds recorded four sacks for a loss of 17 yards and 10 tackles for a loss totaling 34 yards.
