Lane Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Morehouse

JACKSON, Tenn. — Lane College used a dominant second-half performance to pull away from Morehouse College, earning a 69–62 SIAC victory Saturday afternoon inside J.F. Lane Gymnasium.

After trailing 24–21 at halftime, the Dragons came out of the locker room with renewed energy, outscoring the Maroon Tigers 48–38 over the final 20 minutes. Lane shot 55.2 percent from the floor in the second half and went 13-of-16 from the free-throw line to seal the comeback.

Elijah Greer Dawson led all scorers with a game-high 28 points, adding five assists and knocking down 9-of-17 shots from the field. Jarrell Love provided a major spark off the bench, finishing with 14 points and a team-best 14 rebounds, including several key putbacks during Lane's late-game surge.

Naby Ngom added 13 points for the Dragons, while Lane's defense forced 14 Morehouse turnovers and converted them into 17 points. Lane also held a 21–15 edge in bench scoring and outscored Morehouse 21–3 in fast-break points.

Morehouse was led by Logan McCormick, who recorded 12 points and nine rebounds, while JerMontae Hill and Sincere Key each chipped in 11 points. Despite controlling the paint early and shooting nearly 47 percent in the second half, the Maroon Tigers struggled from beyond the arc, finishing just 5-of-26 from three-point range.

The game remained tight down the stretch, with the score tied and the lead changing hands six times. Lane pulled ahead for good in the final two minutes behind clutch free throws and a decisive layup by Greer Dawson in the closing seconds.

With the win, Lane improves to 3–3 overall and 3–2 in SIAC play, while Morehouse falls to 3–5 overall and 3–3 in conference action.
