Clark Atlanta Takes Down Lincoln in Opening Game of Chris Paul HBCU Classic

Clark Atlanta wins fifth-straight in win over CIAA foe

ATLANTA — The Clark Atlanta Panthers took down CIAA-foe Lincoln University, 74-66, in the opening game of the 2025 Chris Paul HBCU Classic on Friday morning. Five Panthers scored in double figures on the way to the win, led by Darnell Evans with 14 points and Jadyn Shider with a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Clark Atlanta was able to stifle Lincoln early on, jumping out to a 15-8 advantage just seven minutes into the contest.
  • The Lions used a relentless 8-0 run in the next four minutes to take the lead at 16-15 with eight minutes left in the first half.
  • Both squads traded baskets until Lincoln held a two-point lead (37-35) headed into the intermission.
  • Darnell Evans put the Panthers back in front with a fastbreak layup, giving Clark Atlanta a 43-41 edge with 16 minutes left to play in regulation.
  • The Panthers held the lead for the remainder of the second half and held the Lions scoreless in the final two minutes to escape with a 74-66 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Panthers placed five players in double figures, led by Darnell Evans with 14 points, Jadyn Shider and Chase Hill with 13 points, Kharye Cayne with 11 points, and Ny'Mire Little with 10.
  • Jadyn Shider won game one MVP with a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double in the win. Shider shot 3-of-8 from the field and a near perfect 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
  • Both teams nearly mirrored each other in the box score with both teams shooting 37% from the floor and 72% from the foul line. Clark shot just 13% from long range, while Lincoln shot 28%.
  • Clark dominated the paint, outscoring Lincoln, 40-24, down low. The Panthers also took advantage of the Lions' turnovers, scoring a game-high 20 points off turnovers.
