BALTIMORE — Central State football could not overcome offensive miscues and relentless defensive pressure on Saturday afternoon, falling 20–0 to Morgan State at Hughes Stadium.
OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES
The Marauders' offense never found rhythm, finishing with just 93 passing yards and 15 rushing yards for a total of 108 yards against the Bears' defense. Quarterback Tison Hill completed 12-of-17 passes for 83 yards but was sacked five times and intercepted once. Chris Cotton added two completions but also threw an interception.
On the ground, CSU's leading rusher was Dai'Vontay Young, who finished with 17 net yards on nine carries. The Marauders were held to 0.5 yards per carry as a team.
RECEIVING LEADERS
Damon Griffin Jr. paced the receiving corps with 31 yards on three catches, including the longest play of the day — a 28-yard reception. Darian Fletcher added three catches for 25 yards, while Kenyon Gardner also had three receptions.
Defense Keeps It Close
Despite the offensive struggles, the Marauder defense held strong to keep CSU within striking distance for much of the game. Domonique Davis II was a standout, recording 14 tackles with 1.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack. Joe Hudson added five stops, including a sack and a quarterback hurry.
Dylan Purry made a key interception in the third quarter, while Kyler Thompson forced a fumble on a sack, giving CSU a chance to swing momentum.
BEARS CONTROL THE GROUND GAME
Morgan State leaned on its rushing attack to wear down the Marauders. Jason Collins Jr. ran for 67 yards and a touchdown, while Randall Nauden added 34 yards and another score. Quarterback Kobe Muasau managed the game efficiently, completing 15-of-22 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown despite being intercepted once.
