SAVANNAH, Ga. — On a day when the nation paused to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Allen University Lady Yellow Jackets chose to honor it their way—by fighting back.
After trailing 34–26 at halftime, Allen unleashed a focused second-half effort to defeat Savannah State 68–66 in front of a packed Tiger Arena crowd. With the win, the Lady Jackets improved to 10-6 overall and 9-5 in the SIAC, climbing into a tie for 3rd place in the SIAC East Division.
SECOND HALF SURGE
The first half belonged to Savannah State, who used a strong first quarter and solid ball movement to keep Allen off-balance. But in the second half, the Lady Yellow Jackets flipped the switch.
Led by Senior Guard/Forward Anissa Tuitt, who was nearly perfect from the field, Allen outscored Savannah State 42–32 in the second half. Their late-game poise, full-court pressure, and critical free throws proved to be the difference.
STAT SHEET STANDOUTS
- Anissa Tuitt: The talented Tuitt put on a masterclass, finishing with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals on 9-of-11 shooting including 4-5 from behind the arc.
- Destini Goodine: Gave Allen a scoring lift early, finishing with 9 points and 3 boards in just 19 minutes.
- Tanaja Kennedy: Came up big down the stretch, contributing 12 points and 4 assists while attacking the basket and playing in your face defense collecting 6 steals.

BACK IN THE HIVE
The Lady Yellow Jackets now shift their focus to a pivotal two-game home stand, beginning Thursday at 5:30 PM vs. Kentucky State. With postseason positioning in clear view, Allen is playing with both urgency and belief.
If this comeback win is any indication, momentum is beginning to build—and the Hive is starting to buzz.
