SIAC Softball Weekly Honors: Feb. 24

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 24, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Kenya Tatum and Monica Rose of Tuskegee University were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KENYA TATUM, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Middle Infielder | Freshman | Montgomery, Ala.
Tatum led Tuskegee offensively during a 4–1 week, batting .438 (7-for-16) with three runs scored, five RBI, one home run, and two walks. She posted a .500 on-base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage while reaching base in four of five games. Tatum delivered her biggest performance in Tuskegee’s win over Claflin, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to spark the Golden Tigers’ offense. She followed that with a 3-for-3 performance against Division I opponent Alcorn State, driving in a run and setting the tone at the top of the lineup. In addition to her production at the plate, Tatum was aggressive on the basepaths, stealing five bases in six attempts.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – MONICA ROSE, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Pitcher/First Base | Sophomore | Pleasant Grove, Ala.
Rose anchored the Tuskegee pitching staff during a 4–1 week, going 2–1 with a 1.75 ERA across three complete-game appearances. She tossed 20.0 innings, allowing just five earned runs while striking out 15 and issuing only five walks. Rose recorded three complete games and demonstrated command and durability throughout the week, limiting opponents to 13 hits over her 20 innings of work. She delivered a dominant outing in Tuskegee’s victory over Claflin and continued her strong play against Division I competition, keeping hitters off balance and working efficiently through high-pressure innings.
