Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers Win Fifth-Straight with Road Win Over Spring Hill

Clark Atlanta improves to 13-8 overall

MOBILE, Ala. — The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers basketball team won their fifth-straight game on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Spring Hill to take down the Badgers 82-71. This marks their fourth-straight win against Spring Hill and improves their record to 13-8 overall and 13-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Lady Panthers shot 50% from the field in the first quarter to outscore the Badgers 18-15 and head into the second frame with a three-point advantage.
  • Clark Atlanta went an impressive 4-of-6 from three-point range in the second quarter, led by Trinity Jones with three triples of her own to give CAU a 43-32 lead going into halftime.
  • Jones opened the second half with another made three-pointer to keep the lead while Clark Atlanta held a 63-51 advantage headed into the final frame of regulation.
  • The Badgers were able to cut the Lady Panthers' lead to six points midway through the fourth, but Clark Atlanta held on to down Spring Hill 82-71.  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Four Lady Panthers scored in double figures, led by Trinity Jones with 20 points, followed by Atreonia Garner with 16, Joirdyn Smith with 14, Janiah Ellis with 12, and Kyara Lawrence with 10 in the win.
  • Shawn Tate pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Ellis led the Lady Panthers in assists with five.
  • Clark Atlanta shot an impressive 50% from the field and from long range, while netting a 73% performance from the charity stripe. 
  • CAU was able to capitalize tremendously on the Badgers' turnovers after causing  18 turnovers and converting them into 27 points.
UP NEXT
Clark Atlanta returns to action on Monday, February 2, as they host Lane College. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
