ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday, March 17, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.
Meadow Villar (
Spring Hill) and
Monica Rose (
Tuskegee) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MEADOW VILLAR, SPRING HILL COLLEGE
Third Base | R-Senior | Dallas, Ga.
Villar delivered a dominant week at the plate for the Badgers, hitting .500 with a .929 slugging percentage and a .528 on-base percentage across 28 at-bats. Villar totaled 14 hits, 12 runs scored, and 15 RBIs, including four home runs, while drawing five walks during the stretch. She also contributed in key run-producing situations with three sacrifice flies, helping drive consistent offensive production for Spring Hill. Defensively, Villar recorded 22 putouts and two assists, finishing the week with a .923 fielding percentage at third base.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – MONICA ROSE, TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY
Pitcher/First Base | Sophomore | Pleasant Grove, Ala.
Rose delivered a dominant performance in the circle, finishing the week 3-0 with a 0.29 ERA across four appearances and four starts. Rose threw 24.0 innings, allowing just six hits and one earned run while striking out 29 batters. Opponents struggled to generate offense against Rose, as she limited hitters while issuing only eight walks. Her commanding presence in the circle helped power the Golden Tigers to multiple victories during the week and anchored a pitching staff that held opponents to just eight total runs across seven games.
