Clark Atlanta Topples Benedict for 2-1 Conference Series Win

Panthers dominate Tigers on the diamond

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — The Clark Atlanta baseball team took down Benedict 2-1 in three games this weekend to secure a crucial conference series win. With the wins, CAU improves to 10-23 and 5-18 in conference play.

GAME 1: CLARK ATLANTA 16, BENEDICT 13
The Panthers registered 16 runs on 14 hits in game one to escape with a 16-13 win. Clark Atlanta was led by Aaron Salazar who went 3-of-5 at the plate. Andrew Leonard delivered a strong performance as well, logging two hits, three RBIs, and one home run in the win. Winston Noel went 3-of-4 at-bat, while Charles Culberson went an efficient 2-for-3 at the plate. Jaylon Johnson also belted the Panthers' 2nd home run of the day. 

Jaden Coleman got the win on the mound with three strikeouts.

GAME 2: CLARK ATLANTA 4, BENEDICT 7
Clark Atlanta fell short in game two, mustering only four runs on eight hits. Andrew Leonard and Winston Noel led with two hits apiece with Leonard leading the team with four RBIs. 

GAME 3: CLARK ATLANTA 14, BENEDICT 8
The Panthers closed out the series with a 14-8 win over the Tigers after registering 14 runs on 16 hits to secure the series victory. Aaron Salazar, Tyler Dunn, and Charles Culberson each led the team with three hits apiece. Dunn and Andrew Leonard also registered timely home runs in the game three win while Joseph Allen earned the win on the mound. 

UP NEXT
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 11 as they host cross-campus rival Morehosue College starting at 1:00 p.m. at Home Plate Field.
