SIAC Women’s Track and Field Weekly Honors: April 7

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, April 7, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in meets last week. Jurnie Hemsley and Ashyia Maddickes of Central State University were recognized.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – JURNIE HEMSLEY, CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate | Columbus, Ohio
Hemsley had an exceptional all-around performance for the Marauders. Hemsley was a double winner on the day, capturing first place in the 400 meters with a strong time of 57.60. She also played a pivotal role on the Marauders’ 4x400 relay team, delivering a dominant leg to help secure a first-place finish by nearly six seconds over the second-place team. In addition to her victories, Hemsley added a third-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking in at 25.48 to round out an impressive meet. Her versatility, scoring impact across multiple events, and contribution to a commanding relay victory helped lead the Marauders to a second-place finish only finishing behind the home team University of Charleston.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – ASHYIA MADDICKES, CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY
Junior | Dayton, Ohio
Maddickes had impressive showing in the Triple and Long Jumps as she continues a strong transition into the outdoor track season following the conclusion of her Marauders’ basketball campaign. Maddickes earned a first-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.44m (37' 6.5"), leading the field with a series of consistent jumps throughout the competition. She also secured a third-place finish in the long jump, posting a top mark of 5.42m (17' 9.5") against a competitive field. Her ability to score in multiple events helped lead the Marauders to a second-place finish at the University of Charleston, finishing only behind the home standing UC team.
