MACON, Ga. — The journey to the 2026 SIAC Football Championship began Wednesday, July 22, as student-athletes, coaches and administrators representing 12 of the conference’s football programs gathered at the Tubman African American Museum in Macon, Georgia, for the 2026 SIAC Football Media Day presented by Georgia Power.
Participating teams met with more than 40 media members following in-depth panel discussions led by returning media day moderator Marvin L. James II. A 26-year veteran sports reporter, James currently serves as director of media relations for the Georgia High School Association.
“This event serves as a spotlight for our football student-athletes as they prepare for the upcoming season,” said SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman, Ed.D. “Football media day brings together the best of the best: the young men who are leaders on our campuses. They excel on and off the field while representing their institutions with class, dignity and humility.”

In addition to speaking with the media Wednesday, teams completed volunteer service projects Tuesday as part of the SIAC/Georgia Power Community Service Day. Participants packed more than 600 backpacks with back-to-school supplies at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and concluded the day by volunteering at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, supporting patients and families.
